The 2001 Expedition to the Adventurers Club

Another year of Adventure!

My return to the Adventurers Club was a warm and welcome one -- greeted by many familiar faces and new ones as well.  Good to enjoy a cocktail served in a monkey head with my fellow explorers once again!  Below are more fantastic yet entirely true tales of my encounters with these delightful Adventurers, complete with photographic souvenirs of my journey.  KUNGALOOSH!

Let's begin in the main lounge, where most Adventurers meet up for a tall tale and a cool beverage, and induct new Honorary Members into the club:

Pamelia's got her groove on!

Great heavens!  It appears that the usually prim and proper Club President, Pamelia Perkins, has been overcome by Mardi Gras fever, an ailment that runs rampant on Pleasure Island every February!  Our fearless leader shakes her . . . corsage for the salon crowd, much to the delight of the males in view. Our hapless Club Curator, Fletcher Hodges, attempts to get into the swing of things as well, but standing between Pamelia and the lovely "leg art" of Gabby the Maid, he earned little attention.  More about our darling Gabby in a couple pages.

"How can you live without a monkey head?!"

Ever alert, the Colonel tells members of the many therapeutic benefits gained when one drinks Jungle Juice from a monkey head. Domestic engineer Annelle looks on, decked out in her shiny Mardi Gras beads, ready to arrange a private "dusting" with the Colonel later in the evening.

Dashing aviator Hathaway Browne enjoys a good chuckle over the antics of his fellow Adventurers as the evening's meeting rolls on. Apparently he has spotted Carol Burnett in the room, as well.

For reasons yet undetected by science, the Club maids spend an inordinate amount of time atop the table next to the Colonel's post.  I say undetected since many of the scientists studying the mystery are male, and the maid's skirts are short -- while no clear answer may ever be reached, careful research of this phenomenon continues today. Carry on, chaps!

Hathaway Browne sends a special hello to Carol Burnett.
Hathaway, Emil and Bessy milk their act for every last laugh.

Emil Bleehall and Hathaway Browne delight the club members with an a capella number to accompany "The 10:15 Parade out of the Unisex Bathroom." Oh, the pageantry, the majesty of this sight -- it must be witnessed first hand to be appreciated!

And the parade can only mean one thing: the next show in the Library begins soon. Let's grab our seats before someone else grabs them!

Wait, I'm sure I don't mean it that way.

Oh well, on to the Library . . .
