

A rather unpopulated, desolate shot of the Storybook Land Canal Boat, with It's A Small World in the far background. Since this was 1968, I guess there were a lot fewer stories written to feature on the ride -- Snow White, the book of Genesis, and that's about it.

My main memories of this ride date well after '68, having long since lost interest in the ride just when the young women skippers in skirts and knee socks started looking good to me. That and, if memory serves, the girls would simply sit atop the roof of the boat -- there was no wheelhouse, just halfhearted attempts to 'steer' the boat and remembering to duck for all the bridges. That must be one of the more surreal cast positions to work in the entire park. Worse, your calves never get tan. |
