A safari back in time

UPDATE: I scanned the band's picture at 600dpi and corrected the color fade, but this is as close as I could get to showing the band's name. The details simply didn't hold up in this tiny portion of the original photo.

Looks like "The New E...ment" or something along those lines. Perhaps this new clue would help readers solve the mystery?

Who... are you? Who? Who? Who? Who?
Here they are again, whoever they are!

UPDATE #2: Contributed by reader Mark Atkins, this 1971 postcard shows the exact same band etixland captured above in vintage '68 photos. Unfortunately the name of the band is even fuzzier in the postcard than it is in my photos, so still no clue who they are. But at least they found fame and 'fortune' at the Disneyland postcard level.

Mark emailed an initial guess on their identity as The Aggregation, a popular band which played at Disneyland during the same era, but the new scan of the stage sign made that unlikely. Thanks for the postcard though, Mark! For many more postcards from his collection, visit Mark's 60s Disneyland site.

Elementary, dear Watson!
THE BIG BREAK:  Recently I found five vintage issues of Disney News magazine in the etixland "archives" (read: my cluttered storage room), and while scanning the Summer 1968 issue I found an article on Disneyland's Summer Spectacular for that year. And sure enough, it answered the mystery once and for all!

A line-up of the summer's entertainment yielded this brief paragraph about our mystery band (I aligned the split paragraph for display). They were The New Establishment.

Thanks to Mark and everyone else who made a guess on the band's name!

To read more from these classic issues of Disney News, please watch for their new section coming soon!

We now return you to your timewarp tour of Disneyland '68, already in progress...

The New Establishment was rockin' the scene, baby!
